๐Ÿ”† A warm week

Web Components chatter, Revue and Ghost newsletter integrations using Zapier.

It's been a warm week in the UK, and an even warmer weekend. I'm taking some time off with the family this month, but still have some work things to sort out.

I didn't manage to post anything new last week, however I was invited to chat on a livestream with Phil Hawksworth from Netlify and Jack Franklin from Google about Web Components and Lit.

It was great to hear different perspectives on how Web Components could be, and are, used. Phil had the perspective of myself from a couple of years ago, hesitant but very interested, while Jack was fully onboard and using it to build parts of Chrome Developer tools which is awesome.

A somewhat obscure thing happened at the weekend. Revue, the newsletter tool Twitter acquired back in early 2021, went down for almost two days.

After posting the above tweet I had a couple of people get in touch asking about Ghost. Turns out those people were using Revue for the same reason I was, just to have a nice "sign up" card on their Twitter profile.

My Twitter profile with a card that lets you sign up to my newsletter.

I showed them you can have the best of both worlds if you use a Zapier 'zap'. After signing up to Revue, ensuring you've connected it with your Twitter profile, you can follow these instructions to send new subscribers from Revue to Ghost:

Official Ghost + Revue Integration
Integrate your Ghost site with Revue to sync your subscribers and ensure your editorial newsletters are being sent to your entire email list ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ“ฅ

I also do this with my custom front-end hosted on Netlify, using Netlify Forms and sending subscribers to my Ghost newsletter system. Ghost acts as my central "hub" and everything else is connected with APIs. Possibly overcomplicated but works for me ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hope you found this interesting! Have a great week โœŒ๐Ÿป
